Description
Description This Wonderful Antique Louis Vuitton Courrier/ Wardrobe Steamer Trunk is in Good Overall Condition,. A Louis Vuitton monogrammed leather with wood slats, brass corners  and two interior trays. The end hand painted with the initials "A.J." Cin. Ohio.   The trunk was aquired directly through Andrew Jergens Estate.  Measuring 24"D x 44"W x 28"H . All hardware is stamped L.V. or "Louis Vuitton" appropriately.  Two original trays with original straps are included - the buckles on each strap are marked "Louis Vuitton" and "Paris" and the straps themselves are also marked with repeating "Louis Vuitton".  Four casters on the bottom.  No original key.  This trunk traveled with Andrew Jergens throughout the world over the years. Dating to the late 1800's or very early 1900's.  Perhaps it was used to transport his now famous soaps and lotions. In 1882 Andrew Jergens started the making soap and quickly grew from a one-kettle operation to what is today one of the largest providers of health and beauty products.  It shows definite signs of use and age including small dents in the metal, a few tears in the fabric and some fading.  The canvas strap is broken in the back, one leather side handle is split. There is some water staing inside of the lid but it looks worse in the photo.  There is no odor and it is from a non smoking household.  I really tried to cover every detail but please feel free to ask questions.  Also I have made no attempt to clean this but think that with a little elbow grease it would clean up beautifully.  The edges are all leather not metal like some others I have seen. There is a serial and pat't number but difficult to read unless you clean the brass. It still displays beautifully and would be perfect for a coffee table, end of bed trunk or a collectors piece.  Please see the photos for details of condition .    This piece is guaranteed to be an authentic antique Louis Vuitton piece. Included are a few antique ads from the Jergens Soap Company. RELISTED DUE TO ERROR IN LISTING MORE ON ANDREW JERGENS Founded in 1882 by Andrew Jergens Sr. and Charles H. Geilfus, The Andrew Jergens Company was originally known as The Jergens Soap Company, with a coconut oil soap as its original product. In 1901 the Company purchased the John H. Woodbury Company and their highly popular products including “Woodbury Facial Soap”. Also purchased was the Robert Eastman Company, maker of creams and lotions. Their most superior formula eventually became the original Jergens Lotion, soon to become the number one selling hand lotion in America. Jergens continued to expand its product lines throughout the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s, and launched Dryad® Roll-On antiperspirant and deodorant, the Clear Complexion Bar, and bubble bath under the Jergens® Nature Scents and Gentle Touch® brands. Their first liquid hand wash, enriched with Jergens® lotion was launched in 1980. The canvas strap is broken in the back, one leather side handle is split. There is some water staing inside of the lid but it looks worse in the photo then it is. PHOTO'S I included some  photo's of the Jergens home and other interesting pics pertaining to Andrew Jergens SHIPPING: Shipping cost, including insurance, within the continental United States will be approximately $300-$500 depending on location.  I can help make arrangements through Uship which is who I used to get it to Minneapolis.    Local pickup can be arranged.  International buyers - please email me for options. I would prefer not to use paypal.  Payment accepted by check, money order, cash (on pick up or delivery) and bank transfer. INTERNATIONAL PLEASE NOTE THAT I WILL ASSIST IN ANY WAY BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS. Ordinarily I always offer a refund if the item is not as described. However, in this case, it would be way to difficult and expensive to ship this valuable trunk back and forth.  So I am selling it as is.  Please be sure to ask lots of questions to reassure yourself that what you see is what you get!  If you check my excellent feedback record, you will see that I am an honest seller.   Household Goods Shipping Tools powered by Shipping Price Estimator Delivery Zipcode: Item Weight: lbs. uShip is the first and largest auction- style marketplace for shipping and transportation services.
