I have a geographical lot of two maps for up for auction. In this kit we have a wall map of the world that measures and incredible 34 1/4" X 51 3/4"! The second is a wall map of the USA that measures 34 1/2" X 52"!It is very apparent that these maps were never hung and probably only taken out and unfolded a hand full of times. Both maps are in excellent condition and have no holes, rips or tears. The colors are soft pastels and are very vivid.These maps would be great hung in a classroom or displayed in some other fashion. I believe they date somewhere in the mid to late 1950's. Of the dating research that I have discovered, leads me to believe that the numbers located in the bottom right hand corners of each map may mean they were produced in 1957 (USA) and 1954 (WORLD). The USA map has the item # "2R57" printed in the corner. I am not any sort of expert on map dating but I live in Illinois and Route 66 is a major road on this USA map and it hasn't been a major traffic road for many, many years. The world map has the item # "R54" and under the border it shows "NYC 901". I suspect the R54 means produced in 1954 but I don't know what the 901 means. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to email me!
